This past Saturday I had the opportunity to serve at a free medical and dental clinic that several churches (including mine) put together. I have to admit, I wasn’t feeling very happy that I had signed up to help out when 6:00 am rolled around Saturday morning – I am not a morning person, at all…
I got to check people in for the medical side. It was a bit chaotic for awhile, but I soon found myself having a great time despite the cold. I got to work with some wonderful ladies, and got to meet almost all of the folks we were able to help out with a free doctor visit and treatment. It was incredibly humbling to see how grateful many were to be able to see a doctor and get some free lunch. Some had even camped out overnight to be sure of getting care. It opened my eyes to how greatly blessed I am to be able to visit a doctor when we really need to, and not have to worry where our next meal will come from.
They’re planning to put together another clinic next year, and I hope to be able to serve again. It’s so easy to say no, I don’t have time to volunteer for things, but so worth it to actually say yes and do it.
How do you find ways to serve others?

That’s wonderful that you did that! it’s rewarding work.

What an awesome service for the community! I love the quote “Preach the Gospel Always, Use Words if Necessary!” People respond more to what we do than what we say. I love to serve at my church and in my community
Each May, our Church has a community serve day where we brighten the city by cleaning, repairing and even planting gardens for families in need. Don’t you find that when you serve, it is beneficial mostly to yourself??? I do… You give and you get!
