Hello!

Welcome to my brand spankin’ new blog! I’ve been a subscriber to several family/mom blogs over the past year and finally decided to start my own! I’m hoping to be able to bring some tips to make your life easier, some reviews and giveaways, a laugh or two and maybe a little cooking and greener living.

I’ve been trying to decide how to start so I guess I’ll start by how I got sucked into the mom blogging world…

Before becoming a mother I had my “plan” of how I would do things complete with the super nice “My kid wont be like that” thoughts. Well, God has a sense of humor and wanted me to loosen up a bit apparently because many of those plans I thought were set in stone flew right out the window after Angelo was born. I never dreamed I would become fairly ”Crunchy” (I didn’t even know what “Crunchy” meant other than potato chip kinda crunchy). That’s not to say I didn’t want the best for my child, I just had my “plan” that I thought would work the best for me.

It all started with the cloth diapering dilemma. I’m chronically indecisive and debated whether or not to CD mainly to save money as we were going to have one income instead of the two incomes we’d been enjoying for 7 years (read 50% budget decrease– fun times!). I researched online trying to decide whether it would really save us that much money and ultimately put off my decision until after Angelo was born so I could see how many diapers we really used. Well, anyone who’s had a newborn knows how fast a “jumbo” pack of diapers is used up.

I bought 10 fairly cheap one-size pocket diapers as a trial thinking if it didn’t work out it wouldn’t be such a huge investment. They were HUGE on my skinny baby so we only used them at home because none of his pants would fit when he wore them! I decided I wanted to really invest in this CD thing, and got back online to do some more research about what would cost the least while still working well and would be a bit trimmer so my child could wear pants ; ).

Someone from my church had a review and giveaway mama blog (Mama Chocolate you should totally check her blog out if you haven’t already) which I had looked at before but not a ton (I didn’t have children at the time). I knew she cloth diapered so I clicked on over to see what her thoughts were. I found a wealth of information which helped me greatly and started entering giveaways. Then I found out about blog hop giveaways and found a ton more information and a whole community of great people I didn’t know existed. I went crazy entering giveaways, reading posts, etc. etc. and I even won a few things which just fueled my addiction. (at least it’s a free addiction right?)  Anyhow, I got the chance to do guest reviews over at Mama Chocolate and have been enjoying trying out new products and writing about them (I do really like to write) since the fall. So, here we are in February and I’m off on my own little blog adventure so we’ll see what happens : ).
