I was excited to try out Glow Bug Cloth Diapers as I had heard a fair amount about them over the past year and a half, but hadn’t gotten to try one yet. One thing I have noticed about Glow Bug is how many adorable prints they have! Ours is a fun green print with stars on it. I like that it’s gender neutral as we hope to have more wee ones in the future.
I quickly noticed that this diaper is very light and trim fitting for a pocket. It came with two inserts both of which are also trim, yet absorbent enough to avoid leaks. I’ve noticed lately many cloth diapers only come with 1 insert. I really like the flexibility of having 2 for heavy wetters. The Glow Bug pocket diaper includes double gussets, double pocket openings, a snap on the front of the insert to keep it in place, four (yes four!) rise settings, and waterproof flaps on the front and back to avoid leaks. The tabs are square with two snaps one above the other on each side with two crossover settings. The lining is a new Slim Dry fabric that feel soft like felt, seems to wick very well, and hasn’t pilled.
The four rise settings was a definite plus for me. None of my other diapers have more than three, and since Angelo has grown to the larger size range I have been having to decommission a few of my one-size diapers that just wont fit well enough anymore. The Glow Bug diaper fits 7-35 lbs and fit very well on my almost 30 lb little guy with one more rise setting to go. I also like the double pocket opening because I don’t have to take the insert out before washing. I just unsnap and throw it in the diaper pail. It has agitated out all by itself every time I’ve washed it.
We have used this diaper several times without any leaking or gaping issues. I love that I get get a snug fit around my son’s thigh area (where we have the most diaper fit issues) without it being too snug and leaving marks. The only thing this diaper doesn’t have that I would love to see is hip snaps. So far we haven’t had the fit issues we sometimes have without hip snaps, but I do feel that I am able to get a more custom fit with hip snaps. All in all Glow Bug Cloth Diapers worked very well for us. I love the waterproof flaps in front and back, double gussets, and multiple rise settings, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Glow Bug to others especially considering all the extra features they have with such an affordable price.
Glow Bug is unique in that it specializes in selling bulk packages of 6-12 diapers not in single diapers. You can purchase a girl, boy, or spectrum (lots of bright colors) package and get a wide array of colors and prints to suit your fancy. You can purchase a set of 12 diapers for $150 and you also get a free wetbag . That’s under $13 per diaper not including the value of the wet bag. If you love prints and need more than just one or two diapers a Glow Bug package is a great way to get a variety of cute prints for a reasonable price. Glow Bug is coming out with new prints due to be shipped in October! You can pre-order yours right now. You can see exactly what the new prints are on Glow Bug’s Facebook page. I think my favorite new print is the girl’s houndstooth!
