Homemade Caramel Corn… need I say more? This version is quite crunchy not sticky just like I like it.
Here’s what you’ll need:
2-3 quarts popped popcorn 1 cup butter 1 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup corn syrup 1/8 tsp cream of tartar 1/4 tsp baking soda 1 cup nuts [...]
Did you know that you can bake acorn squash seeds just like you do pumpkin seeds for a tasty snack? I learned this from a friend. I actually like the acorn squash seeds better than pumpkin because they’re smaller and a little more crunchy. To make your own simply separate and rinse the [...]
I love a good tortilla soup, but hadn’t ever tried making my own until the other day. I adapted a recipe from allrecipes.com to suit my taste (and time limits). You can find the original recipe here. We all enjoyed this soup however I think next time I might add a [...]
I was raised in a squash-less household. My parents both did not like squash and so did not inflict it upon us children. I remember my grandparents eating it sometimes when we came over for dinner, but I never felt inclined to try it out. I worked on a farm in the summer during [...]
In the fall I always seem to start craving hearty “home style” meals. One of our family favorites is Sausage Gravy (you can also use hamburger). I typically make homemade biscuits, rice, or mashed potatoes to drape this gravy over. It isn’t “from scratch”, but it’s way better than the packet gravy from the store.

I made some rolls the other day and some chicken salad to go with it- Yum! It’s a great meal for a hot day.
Chicken Salad
2 cups shredded or chopped cooked chicken 1/2 cup chopped celery 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper 1/2 cup dried cranberries 1/2 cup sliced almonds 3-4 stalks green [...]
If you haven’t figured it out yet, yes, I am a chocoholic peanut butter addict. I came across these delicious looking bars the other day on Pinterest. I saw the picture then the Reese’s part and just HAD to check out the recipe. When I saw it wasn’t hard it took all my willpower to [...]
I love chocolate. The other day we were having company over so I decided I wanted to make a chocolate cake. I found a recipe at allrecipes.com that had good reviews, and that I actually had all the ingredients for (bonus!). I only changed one or two things from the original recipe, and everyone loved [...]
I think one of the most frustrating things about making homemade pizza is having dough that doesn’t turn out right. I mean, who wants to spend an hour or two dealing with dough to have it turn out badly? This is the best recipe I’ve found so far for making pizza dough. I’ve had a [...]
I found this recipe at allrecipes.com, and it makes pretty tasty hamburger buns. The buns can get a bit heavy if you don’t flatten the dough out enough. They rise pretty high so you can flatten them quite a bit, and they’ll be perfect. I did change a few things from the original recipe.
