Lately I’ve really been on a mustache design kick. I’m not really sure why, as a plain mustache is the only facial hair style I have refused to let my husband leave the house with, but as a stand alone design I love it! When I came across BAM crafy mommas’ mustache bib I fell in love at first sight. I was very excited when Angel, the wonderful mama behind BAM crafy mommas became a sponsor of the upcoming Just for Baby Event. She sent me a chalkboard mat and a bib both in the adorable mustache print I love so much to review.
Bam crafy mommas’ chalkboard mats are made with chalkboard fabric on one side and a decorative fabric on the other (in our case, the mustache fabric). They come with a small loop on the chalkboard side to safely transport your chalk, and a larger loop on the other side to hold the mat in a roll when not in use (like a burrito). There is a very wide array of adorable fabrics to choose from. You can even purchase smaller sized party favor mats in packs of 5 or more for children’s birthday parties which I think is a pretty neat idea!
I had not tried out or even seen a chalkboard mat in person before. I did not even realize there was such a thing as chalkboard fabric. I was curious as to whether the chalk would actually write very well on the fabric since I’ve had some less than grand experiences trying to write on chalkboard paint in the past. I’m happy to say that the chalkboard fabric does indeed work and works very well! We didn’t have any “regular” chalk so we used some sidewalk chalk to try the mat out, and it worked perfectly.
Angelo is still a bit young to really “get” the idea of writing on a particular surface, but he had fun for a few minutes. He then flipped the mat over and tried writing on the mustache fabric on the back (and a few other things) which I wasn’t super thrilled about, but the yellow chalk wiped off the fabric easily. I found the chalkboard fabric to be not only easy to write on but also, easy to clean. I just swiped it with a clean rag, and it was ready for more scribbles. I think this chalkboard mat will really come in handy fairly soon down the road once Angelo stops going to the nursery during church. It doesn’t take up much space in the diaper bag and doesn’t make ANY noise to use- perfect for church!
The mustache bib is as cute as I thought it would be. I love it! Angel makes her bibs with a decorative fabric in the front backed by a terry cloth fabric. Each bib closes with a sturdy snap. This bib isn’t “waterproof”, but that’s fine for us as Angelo is mostly past the dumping liquids all over himself stage. I would say it’s mid-range length wise. I have some bibs that are longer and some that are shorter than this one. I was a bit worried that it might not be quite long enough, but once I tried it on Angelo, it was long enough to reach below the highchair tray so it worked very well for us.
Angel loves that with her business BAM crafy mommas she can be home with her children while she works. (I think that’s pretty wonderful too). She crafts all sorts of fun items from toys, to coffee cozies, to baby essentials, and ready-made scrap books. I think she has excellent taste in her fabric choices, and if I wasn’t in a “mustache phase” I would have had a very hard time picking which fabric I wanted for our review items.
