aden + anais® Organic Swaddle Review

I first read about aden and anais® and their muslin swaddles, bibs, and other products while researching cloth diapers a month or so after my son was born. I greatly wish that I had known about them before then and saved myself the headache of trying to swaddle my newborn in a too-small flannel blanket that only frustrated me every time I tried to use it. Angelo liked to kick his feet- a lot. He would kick off my carefully wrapped swaddle in no time.

When I saw the aden + anais® muslin swaddle blankets I thought they were beautiful, but once I read about them, I really wanted to try one. I wasn’t able to purchase one until Angelo was around 6 months old and we weren’t swaddling him anymore, but he still absolutely loved it. Recently we got to see how well we liked the Organic Oasis Muslin Swaddle.

The Oasis swaddle came in a small bag made from the same fabric as the swaddle which I thought was great for keeping the blanket clean and packed tightly when we travel. I absolutely love the Oasis print especially since it’s very gender neutral and has a calm feel to it. The second I took it out of the package Angelo was holding his hands up saying “Blankey! Blankey!” so I gave it to him (even though you are supposed to wash it first). He ran around the house with it for quite some time. I was able to sneak it away for a washing that night.

I think one reason Angelo loves this blanket so much is the fabric it’s made of. Muslin is a soft, thin, loose weave fabric that gets even softer with continued washing. It’s also very breathable and great for use during the hot summer – especially when you have a little guy that demands he have a blanket on him for naps and at night (seriously even when it’s 100 degrees). It’s light and easy to carry as well which is a big plus too. Whenever he can snag it Angelo likes to take it to bed with him. He also enjoys wearing it as a cape from time to time. You may think that a looser weave, thinner fabric wouldn’t hold up well to frequent washing- that couldn’t be further from the truth. These blankets can take a beating and keep getting more and more soft and snuggly.

Angelo made sure his new "blankey" went with him everywhere. He did share it with teddy when he put him down for a nap.

Although my child is far too big to be using the blanket as a swaddle, I do want to highlight why it’s such a great swaddle for your newborn. First of all, it’s much much larger than the traditional flannel receiving blankets they sell at the store. The muslin also has this incredible ability to keep your child warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s warm. Since the fabric is a looser weave, the blanket is much thinner feeling making it much easier to swaddle your little one and keep them swaddled.

About aden +anais® from their website:

Today, aden + anais, has brought the legacy of muslin together with fashion forward design to create a line of products that are as stylish as they are useful; and as simple as they are beautiful. We believe in muslin– the way it looks, the way it feels, the way it works– to improve the lives of babies and their mothers no matter who they are or where they live.

We love the aden + anais® Organic Oasis Muslin Swaddle just as much as the Classic Muslin Swaddle we’ve been using for awhile now. The big difference between the two is the Organic Swaddle is made from organic cotton grown without toxic pesticides and fertilizers. I can highly recommend aden + anais® and their products. I like them so much that they’re one of my favorite baby shower gifts to give. I know I’ll be investing in more if/when we have another little one in the future!

aden + anais® has several other products available from bibs to crib sheets and even a skin care line called mum + bub. They are currently offering a special bonus gift of mum + bub Ultra Gentle Lotion with an online $100 or higher purchase using the code: USpawpaw good through 9/15.
